Professional discipline- fitness to practice

We advise clients on professional disciplinay matters and represent them at professional disciplinary hearings, Regulatory hearings, including both in-house representation and representation at statutory disciplinary hearings in "professional misconduct" or "fitness to practise" professional disciplinary cases. This includes hearings before the following Regulators:

- representation at cases before the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council);
- representation at cases before the GMC (General Medical Council);
- representation at cases before the GDC (General Dental Council);
- representation at cases before the HPC (Health Professions Council);
- representation at cases before the GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council);
- representation at cases before the GCC (General Chiropractic Council);
- representation at cases before the GOC (General Optical Council);
- representation at cases before the RPSGB (Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain)
- representation at cases before the GOsC (General Osteopathic Council)

Because much of Erich Suter's career has been spent as an employed Barrister he has, in that capacity, had "the right to conduct litigation" and so had the conduct of the cases in which he acted (up to Court of Appeal level). This means that we are in an excellent position to act for clients under the direct public access provisions  without needing them to provide very much by way of additional input.

right to conduct litigation

The "right to conduct litigation" or having the "conduct of the case" means the right to do the things normally done by a solicitor as well as doing those normally done by a Barrister

Public access rules

The direct public access rules  are the rules which allow barristers to accept work directly from the person or company or other organisation involved in the case.

Direct public access means that you no longer need to have two lawyers to deal with your case. At Park Chambers your barrister will present your case in court or tribunal and can now do, or assist you to do, the other legal bits usually done by a solicitor as well.

Direct public access means that you no longer need to pay for two lawyers to deal with your case.

In cases where our members are appointed as mediators they can also be appointed directly, without the involvement of a third party.
