It can be an agreement under which an employee's employment is terminated; or an agreement which settles specific employment claims. Compromise agreements are governed by Statute and require an employee to obtain advice from a "relevant independent adviser". These agreements apply to settlements of all types of statutory employment rights claims such as unfair dismissal, sex discrimination, race discrimination, disability discrimination, non-payment of wages, minimum wage claims, holidays and holiday pay claims and other statutory employment rights from time off for reasons such as maternity and paternity leave to issues about Sunday working.
